Big Wins for Environmental eHealth!
Congratulations to Dr. Richard Scott who won big at the 1st Annual Conference on eHealth - The Virtual Dimensions of Health and Environment in Dubai, UAE in April 2009. As reported in the April issue of the TICr, Richard was scheduled to present two papers on the topic of Environmental eHealth, a new area of research that he first created in 2003. His presentations resulted in two awards:
Environmental eHealth: The Potential Impact of eHealth on our Environment - Introducing a New and Essential Concept won "Best Paper Presentation Award" by unanimous committee vote.Reducing Environmental Impact: An Example of How e-Health can Reduce Environmental Impact and Concomitantly Improve Health was awarded the "Best Paper Award" by blinded peer review.
In addition to his success at the Environmental eHealth conference, Richard also recently received competitive funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) for his project: Environmental eHealth: a new area of research to understand the environmental benefits and costs of using ICT to facilitate healthcare-eHealth.
